Help with finding examples of the important role animals hold in medical research?

I'm looking for examples of how animals help in medical research...

for example: pig kidneys being used in humans

Does anyone know of any other examples or can give me any links to websites that may be helpful? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!!

Well I know horseshoe crabs' blood is used for blood transfusions.

Also many venomous animals(snakes, jellyfish, poiso n dart frogs, etc.) are useful in making medications and anti venoms.
Reply:"Animal research has played a vital role in virtually every major medical advance of the last century – for both human and animal health. From antibiotics to blood transfusions, from dialysis to organ transplantation, from vaccinations to chemotherapy, bypass surgery and joint replacement, practically every present day protocol for the prevention, treatment, cure and control of disease, pain and suffering is based on knowledge attained through animal research." - Foundation for Biomedical Research
