Well, first you need to be willing to work for nothing so you can gain some experience. Labs and research groups will gladly give work to people who will do it for free. Then if you're good, they'll hire you based on experience for pay.

Look beyond your university. All students zero in on the university first, so research positions can be difficult to find. Go to a research hospital instead (like a cancer center or AIDS hospital) and look for volunteer positions and internships. Or you can find a non-profit organization to take you. Go for the big names, but understand non-profits seldom pay money. And if they pay, it's a paltry sum.

Or try your local heatlh department. They do plenty of research projects, and they love slave labor. That's how I did my master's thesis.

Dress up your resume to make yourself look good and be proactive. Research the projects your profs are doing. Pick a few projects that sound interesting to you. For example, if you are interested in infectious disease research, you might wanna focus less on tobacco prevention research. Then seek the professors and visit them in person. Talk to them about the projects and see whether there's a place in the lab for you.
Reply:Go to a hospital in the city you live in. Tell them you have a degree in medicine and ask them how you can go into research.good luck.
