What colleges specialize in medical research?

i want to go to a college in the ny area that has a very good medical research department

What colleges specialize in medical research?
John Hopkins or Columbia
Reply:In order to be accredited every medical school must offer a research opportunity to medical students. The research done at any given medical school is not part of the school itself, but its either a part of the medical center that shares the name of the medical school or a contracted research center.

You won't find a lesser quality medical school anywhere in the US. If you have a particular interest, you need to research the research programs.

If a US medical student is going to do research, it is usually as a lab assistant during summer months. Some offer stipends, some do not. It's usually the professor who has the research grant that determines that factor.

An easy way to search what research is occuring is to go to the faculty web page. Most faculty will list their current research project under their credentials.
Reply:If you can expand your range, the number one hospital/medical school in the world is Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. They always rank very highly in the US News and World Report's "Best Hospitals" issue.
