How has computers changed medical research and treatments?
Computers have dramatically increased the productivity of hospitals and medical institutions. For instance, microchips have been made small enough to embed video software in it and, when swallowed, travels down the digestive tract of a patient, called video pills. Organization and documentation has also been enhanced by computers to store more records, easily attainable, of patients and their history. Swipe cards for medical access to certain facilities and robotic arms to perform surgeries have shifted medical research to a more precise performance. Hazardous chemicals and solutions don't have to be handled via hands anymore, preservation of human organs, and just the overall comfort of patients, such as reclining beds. Everything involves the microchip, and with the microchip, computers exist. Even when you walk into the ER room--sliding doors signaled via light or motion involves a microcomputer.
