PS: Are you asking about covering the thumb control hole? If so, that is how you apply suction. The proper method is to insert the catheter WITHOUT suction (finger OFF the hole) and then apply suction and withdraw. Maximum suction time is 10 seconds before hyperventilating the unconscious patient.
