Is it absolutely necessary to use animals in medical research???

is there no alternative.

I saw a t.v special how the gov. uses chimps for research.

We use mice for eye experiments.

I know in our past that we use animals for everything.

Because we have the right,WHAT gives us the right.

If I see a bug crawling on the floor, does that automatically give me the right to kill it.

I just can't get the images out of my head, from watching t.v shows about it.

I understand humans have more value then animals, but at what cost.

Does the means always justify the ends.

Is it absolutely necessary to use animals in medical research???
I don't know.

It appears that most research these days can be done without the use of animal testing; but it also appears that sometimes it's still necessary. I'm not a medical researcher so I don't know, but I hope that no ethical researcher would use animals for testing unless there was no other way to learn what s/he needs to know.

And finally: What wouldn't you do -- or consent to have done -- to save your life, or the life of someone you love?
Reply:Would you like to volunteer?
Reply:hey bud, i agree with you 100% they have other means of testing than on animals, they should ban it altogether in my opinion
Reply:Do you have any suggestions? I mean if you experiment on humans, it is not only you who would be outrage. Mice and Chimps are two of the closest you can get for medicines that you can precribe to human beings.

Scientists may have found a cure to some incurable diseases before but our society does not immediately allow those scientists to try their experiments as adverse reaction may also present danger on human lives. So, would you just prefer trial and error on humans or try it on animals first?
Reply:I don't have problems with animal research for medical reasons. But I oppose it for cosmetics, absolutely.
Reply:Don't worry animals don't have feeling, if they do all those research and experiments will consider as evil and cruel. *I am being sarcastic.*But not joking.
Reply:Yes it is necessary, unless you're going to volunteer.

As for what gives us the right, well it's the same right we have to eat them if we see fit.

It comes with our position as the most advanced species on the planet.
Reply:Perhaps animal testing is cruel but it is necessary. Much reaearch and testing is done on any project before being applied to animal test subjects. Some testing must be done on animals prior to human testing to avoid human injury or suffering. These creatures have been bred specifically for testing and in the vast majority of cases (outside the actual tests) are treated much better than many other domestic animals. Puppy mills and egg farms would be two very good examples of cruelty to domesticated animals..

In my opinion, the end definitely justifies the means when it comes to animal testing..
Reply:I think that it is completely necessary for medical purposes.
Reply:I agree...it's cruel
Reply:we will use you for research instead
Reply:Experiments on animals is wrong.
