I am a second year biology major at a small liberal arts college. I want to attend a top-notch medical school, so I'm
trying my best to fulfill all requirements to the best of my ability.
I've read that it's very important to have some sort of research experience. However, I'm not sure how to get involved with medical research. I don't even know where to start. My school is very small, and I don't think that we have any research programs.
Do I have to somehow pull together a research project? What can I do to make this requirement look good? Also, what will be the most rewarding in terms of personal experience?
Again, I'm completely lost when it comes to this. I have no idea where to begin or who to ask for guidance, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
How can I get involved in medical research?
Most medical students have no research experience of any kind. If you want to get some experience in research the best thing to do is get a job as a research assistant after you graduate. I would only recommend this is you fail to get into medical school as the pay isn't great. Most medical schools have an active research program and it is a really great chance to meet the right people.
