Monkeys in medical research?
Because their brains, reproductive and immune systems of primates are more similar to our own. Apes would actually be close to humans, but are not allowed in the UK and US.

Reply:They are primates, close to humans. Researchers don't use monkeys a lot though. They're extremely expensive. Cheaper to use a mouse(and even using mice for research is REALLY expensive) but of course mice aren't primates....
