I realise most research being government funded explores common health problem but I'm wondering if theres any institutes anywhere that explore unusal or unheard of aliments in the world.
I dont mean disease but actual medical symptoms that perhaps even challange what is widely accepted or written in medical textbooks.
Is there anywhere that does research in unusual medical aliments ?

What symptoms? What experience or answers has 'common' medical practice given for these unusual ailments??
