Has anyone ever taken part in medical research trials?

How safe is it to partake in some medical trials,

Seeing as half are placebo cases and they wouldnt do it if not safe.

Its good money, i understand some people are unlucky with the odd trial, but has anyone taken part, what was the trial, what was the agency, and was the pay good/?

Many thanks

A friend of mine did, and I'm thinking about it seriously. It IS a trial, so there's some risk, however I think it is slight. And you contact them if anything weird happens, plus they monitor you pretty closely.

Hers was a cholesterol medicine. She got free exams and tests, then free medicine for at least 6 months. The draw-back is, they won't keep giving you the medicine after the trial. After they prove it works, you gotta pay for the prescription like anyone else.

Remember, that the medicine has been tested for about a year or two before they allow humans to test it. Of course, they are also looking for side effects that were unpredicted-like a compulsion for gambling that is on one of the advertisments now! If only twelve people in a thousand get the side-effect, they still have to warn about it.

The biggest problem she had was that there was a bunch of paperwork, then keeping the appointments. It is a commitment, you shouldn't just quit, even if you move or something, they need for you to finish.

Did that help?

Live well and do good.
