Medical research careers?

What high paid careers are there in the field of medical research? What sort of background would you need to have? How many jobs are there in this area?

Medical research careers?
I am a scientist by profession...it depends on what type of research you are interested in...I have B.S. in Chem %26amp; Bio with a minor in biochem. I then got a MS in Chem. I work in pharmaceutical R%26amp;D and it pays plenty (but remember pay scale differs according to standard of living!)..
Reply:Pharmacist creates medicine and researches it.. Averages about 100K annually.

You need to get a bachelors (4 years), then a Ph.D (Another 4), and then go to a Pharmacist school for a couple years..
