stem cells are cells that are to be programmed to become another cell (e.x. tissue cell, organ cell) and are found inside large bones (e.x. femer)
These are very important to humans as they renew cells and are basically the newborn cells in our body.
stem cell research is simply trying to research how they can use Stem cells to their advantage - from curing diseases like cancer (creating cells that are anti-cancerigenic etc.) to biological weapons and to discovering what makes the human body tick.
Some people are against this as they think it might be against religeon to go this far into the creatio of us - if technology moves on who knows how stem cells will infulence our lives.
What are stem cells and why are they important in medical research?
stem cell research looks in cells and produces different structures for people by developing them to a certain dimension
Reply:stem cells are cells that have a "blank slate". this means that if you take a stem cell and put it next to say a skin cell, it replicates the properties of that cell. that cell will turn itself into a skin cell.
they are cells without defined properties. they are able to 'morph' themselves into the particular cell that happens to be adjacent to them.
Reply:Stem cells can be stimulated and manipulated in such a way that they can change into other types of cells, and can even be used to create new organs, like hearts. There's more in-depth explanation, but I'm not that deep into it yet.
Reply:stem cells are pretty much like blank cells, meaning there nothing
they are important because if you put them next to any other cell, they become that kind of cell
so they can repair damage
Reply:what a stem cell is the beganing cells that do not have a specific pass so they are really bluiding the body the really cool thing is that have been burned or have deases theys cells can adapted to the part of the body as well there finding new ways to uses to cure people the problem is these stem cells are found in unborn fetus and the is a really big political thing and its a good thing and a bad thing to many problem republicans are pro life so yeah
Reply:Stem cells are the foundation cell of a bodily organ. They are important because soon scientists will be able to grow organs in the lab and will not need doners.
Reply:Stem cells are basically blank cells. They can be made into any other type blood cell. It is important in medical research because scientists are trying to take the cells and make them so they can make other types of cells like brain cells as well.
Reply:Stem cells are a specific cell which is found largely in the embryo. They are able to differentiate into many (or any) other type of body cell, which is what makes them so important in research on the healing of diseases!
Reply:Stem cells offer enormous potential for curing and treating disease because they can be transformed into any cell in the body and then hopefully used to replace damaged or diseased cells, tissues and organs.
Reply:Stem cells are self-newing cells that with proper growth conditions can be made to differentiate into a number of different cell types with specific biological functions. Meaning that they can be turned into any kind of cells in which you put them in. Like for example you take some stem cells and put then near cardiac cells, they will turn into cardiac cells. I know it is unbelievable but it's true. there are thousands of researches that are going on right now in this world to find out new stuff about stem cells.
Hope that helps you.
